In fact, as I recall the story, it was essentially the incremental possesion of the person and the resulting gender/sex confusion that led to the sex change operation.<BR/><BR/>What is relevant was something the priest had said when being interviewed by Martin. Reflecting on the issue of gender and sex and how they are not really interchangeble notions, he said, "A bird doesn't fly because it has wings; he has wings because it flies."<BR/><BR/>It really is a profound thought and has stuck with me for many years.
