Here I am writing a massive gun post and can't seem to draw the comments. :-)Darwinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08572976822786862149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13522238.post-23391826833790248842013-01-21T15:55:55.892-05:002013-01-21T15:55:55.892-05:00Yeah, when it it comes to cheap ammo, the old Russ...Yeah, when it it comes to cheap ammo, the old Russian calibers are definitely the way to go. I guess if I were gong to go that direction, I'd be a little more inclined to go for an AK-47 (7.62x39) or else the AK-74 which shot the 5.45x39 (the Russian answer to the .223 M16 round). Both the Russian rounds go for about $5 for a 20rd box and less if you buy big ammo cans.

There was an awesome 100yd indoor range I used to go to back in Texas where they'd let you shoot any kind of ammo and any caliber up to .50 BMG. Indoor ranges up here in Ohio tend to be pretty small, so the few times I've been able to make it out shooting lately I go outdoor. I had one with a fairly large aperture sight in the rear and a circular loop around the front sight. Look through them both and you're right on target.

Unfortunately, an awful lot of that cheap ammo is steel-core, and indoor ranges won't permit it, as it goes right through a 1/2" steel backstop. Some of them won't even let an SKS through the door.Arkanabarhttp://arkanabar.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.com
