He was said to have been an adventurous child, ready to try anything (and an able swimmer). They clearly do keep some kind of information on investigations even if they don't find any problems, because in response to another question the social worker talked about how if someone was maliciously calling the same incident in over and over again, they could recognize that from their records and not stage another investigation.

Of course, that's little real help in that if someone simply calls in a different unfounded allegation each time they can stage investigation after investigation with no end in sight.Darwinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08572976822786862149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13522238.post-56867816907232866332016-07-27T08:34:29.006-04:002016-07-27T08:34:29.006-04:00Donald,

Reagan's quip about "I'm from the government and I'm here to help" remains more memorable, but Lewis gets at what makes the whole thing so corrosive.Darwinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08572976822786862149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13522238.post-86298546401631356482016-07-27T08:28:50.867-04:002016-07-27T08:28:50.867-04:00How well you are cleared from the database for unf...How well you are cleared from the database for unfounded charges may vary by state and/or who does the clearing. Despite my ex (and her friends / family) filing 5 reports on me with TX CPS between the time she decided to leave and the day we finalized the divorce, when she filed a report on her now second ex regarding the daughter she and I had together, I actually had to provide that caseworker with one of the old case numbers before he could pull up the set in their system as my name had been completely removed (and they had managed to misspell both of our kids names). It brings to mind the CS Lewis quote:

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.”Donald R. Both time...This happened to me and my family twice. Both times the "charges" were ultimately declared "unfounded." Supposedly when this happens they erase all traces of the "charges," your interrogation, and the outcome (if it is eventually declared to be "unfounded"). But they don't, of course. The answers you gave to all of those questions, plus the fact that you were "charged" in the first place, are all recorded in a database, so that if you are ever reported again, they can check to see if there is a pattern, which is presumptive evidence of guilt. Indeed, the whole process sets common law on its head. If you are reported, you must prove your innocence, as anyone who has had a basic background in simple logic knows, is impossible.
