They had that type of a/c system installed...right after I got married nine years ago. I suffered greatly in hot weather when I was a teen, and I was somewhat aggravated that they timed it like they did. Now I live without a/c myself, in another old farmhouse, and I tolerate heat pretty well and am content this way. It sure is a treat to go chill at my mom's house on a hot day, though. I'm sure you will enjoy it so much, especialy when you're nursing the baby this summer.

I'm potty training my two year old daughter. She is ready when she wants to be ready, and a walking garden hose when she wants attention or just doesn't care. Today she took herself to go #2, so maybe it's the light at the end of the tunnel? It has been especially helpful because it allows me to see exactly how many "free" days for each subject there are (we're also doing Saxon), which lets me say "just skip math today" if we really need to (sickness/unexpectedly spending the day with guests). It has been much easier to aim for "lesson 30 by the end of the first quarter" instead of "lesson 120 by far-away-next-May". It has also helped not get too far off (and I've been in this seventh-child pregnancy this year, too... the way I explain it to everyone, I'll turn 40 one week, finish the school year the following week, and birth #7 the week after that--no rest for the weary!) in each quarter.

Anyway, I'm super-sympathetic. I'm glad you've had the reckoning, and hopefully y'all can finish strong (and on time!)
Jennynoreply@blogger.com
