If Trump can grab even half of Rubio's votes, that pretty much clinches his nomination; and if anybody besides Cruz gets them, then either Trump wins, or there still will be a brokered convention.

I would be careful there about following the highly misleading media trope of declaring Cruz the "winner" of Iowa and Texas; both states give delegates proportionally***, and so Cruz only "won" Iowa by getting merely one more lousy delegate than either Trump or Rubio (8 Cruz, 7 Trump, and 7 Rubio, respectively).

And all states from March 1-March 14 are proportional in the republican primary, so looking at state "victory" counts is the wrong way to go at this point.

*** Unless you can get a majority in Texas, in which case you get all of the delegates, but that's just not going to happen this year.Timotheoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09848027239405239382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13522238.post-26602291677213537682016-03-01T09:33:08.010-05:002016-03-01T09:33:08.010-05:00The GOP is not conservative. This is a monopolistic system in which the Republicans pretend to be in opposition to the dominant progressive trend. I used to think the Democrats would be the ones to dissolve, but they are stronger than the GOP because there are so many more outright idiots who think they can vote themselves stuff. So the Republicans have to go. This will destabilize the system. There is hope in destabilizing the system because at some point there will be a chance for sane governance, at least in some places. There is no hope of sane governance under the current system.

Augusthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08758314961163692341noreply@blogger.com
