I just finished filing my taxes.
President Obama can rest easy tonight, though. My effective tax rate was just 3.14%, less than 1/5th of Warren Buffet's 17.4% effective tax rate. Since Warren Buffet also makes well over 300x more than I do, this means that he paid in excess of 150,000% more in taxes than I did. Not too bad a job of soaking the rich from where I sit. But he might want to spring for a copy of TurboTax for his secretary, since it sounds like the poor lady is missing a deduction or two.

Or fewer dependents, anyway.
I hope TurboTax is paying you for this ad. ;-)
Pi%
Tex, around here it's always apple Pi.
All those little Darwins really pay off in so many ways. Deductions really favor certain people and situations. We happen to be those people too so, yippee! But I don't always think it's fair. In my little small business, my partner and I pay ourselves a salary. Since she works more hours than I do, her salary is higher, but since she is single and does not own a home her take home pay is the same as mine. This really doesn't seem fair to me. She does have more disposable income because she's not raising a family, but she works harder and I think she should be compensated for that. The situation doesn't seem to bother her as much as it does me.
