Well, I was hoping I'd have some Stillwater for you eventually, but it appears that I've just irrevocably deleted 1000 words - a week and a half's worth of agony, gone in one unfortunate click. Thanks to our aged Mac, as soon as I hit undo, the computer sputtered and froze and would not release to me my text. Gone, gone with the wind, alas.
Maybe I can get it all back in another week and a half...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, Mrs. D. I feel your pain. %$#@!*% computers! (
Ouch!
At least you know where you went with those 1000 words, so it shouldn't be *that* hard to rewrite. Theoretically. Demoralizing perhaps, but not as difficult.
If I may, I'd strongly suggest setting up at least Dropbox and keeping your writing in that. It will automatically sync as your write (you do need to remember to save occasionally, but that's it) and if things go sideways you can restore previous versions (up to 30 days).
If you're extra paranoid (I am :)), you can use an offsite backup as well (I use CrashPlan). It's a lifesaver! (I've not lost writing, but I have lost a few photosets before.)
OOoooooooo! You have my complete sympathy! G'rrr!

OH, NO!!! =(
I don't know what to say. I've been there, too, but every loss of good writing seems to be a unique misfortune.
No autosaved files anywhere?
This would not be the first time that an apple caused the abandonment of the word.
Good luck with the re-creation!
Roma Locuta Est - ahahahahaha!
Mrs. D - I'm so sorry! For you and for me. I heard a quote from an author about not wanting to "tell it" for fear of losing it before she got it on the page....
