A newer blog to watch, recently added to the blogroll, is Riparians at the Gate, written by Jennifer Fitz. Jennifer writes some very good stuff on economics and historical issues from a level-headed Catholic perspective -- and she has also taken up the laudible approach of pacing herself to a specific publication schedule. Would that I had the discipline to do the same (and use the resuling free time wisely.)
