The life cycle of the common bug

The babysitter was here last night and we were just about to leave when I hear a call from the kitchen: "MrsDarwin, Babs just threw up!"

And so she had -- her entire dinner, over her entire outfit. It took about 45 minutes to get her cleaned up and medicated (if your child hates Pepto-Dismal, it's helpful to administer it while she's in the tub). We feared we should have no birthday dinner, but finallly she fell asleep and we were able to sneak out for an hour or two.

In the middle of the night Darwin woke up feeling indisposed and proved that this bug is indeed contagious. And Babs toddled in to stand beside me and tell me that she wanted to sleep with us because she'd thrown up in her bed. Sheets were changed, foreheads were felt, temperatures were taken. Darwin is still curled up in bed, ready to welcome death when it comes to bring him sweet release. Babs whimpered and moaned herself back to sleep (breathing right on me, I might add), and was generally piteous until I called to cancel her dental appointment. Now she's eating tortilla in the living room and demanding orange juice. Ah, the resilience of the young!

Ugh... Doesn't sound like too much fun over there. I hope that bug either halts its march or sweeps through quickly. Nothing like a lingering bug to make all within the family miserable...

Eek. I'm sorry. Hope you all feel better soon.

I had my darlin' daughter do that to me on my birthday one year too...she threw up on me. My darlin' older son did that to me on my birthday several years ago also. My birthday just seems to make people sick...hehe...
Hope everyone is better soon! God bless...

Spent Thanksgiving at my mother's house in Texas. All 12 grandchildren were present, and all the kids played together the entire afternoon.

Two days later, my 3-year-old nephew came down with chicken pox (unbeknownst to us, his older sister had just gotten over a case).

We're waiting out the 2 to 3 week incubation period to see if any of ours comes down with it.

What a merry Christmas this could turn out to be!

Oh dear.... I had just come to your website to ask if you had enjoyed your birthday! Well, I enjoyed all those adventurous stories from your past anyhow!

just wait till your family is big enough that it will start to seem like those bugs are going in circles...

Oh my goodness, right before I read this, I had just cleaned up my older daughter's bed after naptime because she threw up all over everything....didn't spare a single surface. And, it continued throught the night. Ugh! Hope everyone is feeling better over there!

What *is* it with chicken pox? It seems to be everywhere I turn...and next, on one of my children, I'm sure!
