Initial impressions: Allison Williams is a better actress than Carrie Underwood, but the rest of the cast is going to show her up.
I miss Mary Martin's and Cathy Rigby's energy in the role -- they had stage presence.
Gorgeous set. And Kelli O'Hara as Mrs. Darling and Christian Borle as Mr. Darling are simply treats to watch.
Allison Williams's singing: not exciting! Not Broadway!

Darwin: "She spent all this time on "Girls" and she doesn't know what a kiss is?"
I wish Wendy and Peter Pan could switch roles.
Yes. Peter is quite a sensible boy.
All right, I'm ready for Christopher Walken.
Christopher Walken follows the Rex Harrison school of singing: why sing it when you can speak it? Worked for Harrison, works for Walken.
Actually, when Pan isn't on screen, there's not much to fuss about in this production. It has a modicum of excellence.
Mm, I need these Lost Boys to mop my kitchen floor like that...
I don't remember Wendy telling the Lost Boys the ending of Hamlet in other productions, but it's the funniest moment of the show so far.
Can't make a call on Tiger Lily until after her song, but some outfit, baby.
Peter cares about loss of life? Since when? And Wendy gets a new song, but her voice is pretty.
Wendy is going to have a hard time competing with Tiger Lily's outfit.
I don't understand the characterization of this Peter.
But the choreography is delightful. I love the Lost Boys and the Pirates. They have a great sense of movement and some sweet dancing chops.
MUSIC MAN NEXT YEAR!
So: Christopher Walken was amusing, though I could have wished for a bit more energy. Allison Williams we'll just leave alone; obviously she can't make herself more than she is. Tiger Lily, meh.The rest of the cast was lots of fun, and next year they need to just go ahead and make Christian Borle the lead because he's fabulous. Oh Casting Gods, please don't let NBC screw up The Music Man with zany celebrity plug-ins.
I really liked Terri O'Hara. And the dog. Tinkerbell was visually nice, but not... endearing, somehow.
I think the production suffered from not being quite "together." Some of the people were acting like they were in a stage production, some of them were acting for TV, and some of them were acting for movie closeups.
It seemed like a dress rehearsal, I guess. Did they have a live audience to bounce off?
