It is, of course, terribly wrong to rejoice in the suffering of others. But perhaps it's not entirely in appropriate to be mildly amused by
this New York Times article about the travails of the wives, girlfriends and mistresses of Wall Street titans during the recession. To their credit, it sounds like they're a bit amused themselves.

Women love social status like men love hourglass figures. Honestly contribute to society if you want but you won't get any dates if you do so in a needy or unconfident manner.
I don't think it works to make generalizations about an entire gender's desires, but clearly the women interviewed in the story do.
