Not-So-Phantom Ivy

Well, so much for denial. But there's a certain debased fun in guessing where the blisters will pop up next. I'd forgotten how ugly poison ivy can be.

I'm fine, mostly, as long as I can keep the fingers of my left hand from touching each other. And keep from scratching my eyelid or neck or stomach or foot. The ear is a lost cause though.

There are urushiol-removing scrubs and soaps aside from Tecnu. Seek them out at a pharmacy, or have Darwin do so. They will greatly reduce the duration of symptoms. Calamine serves only to prevent you from spreading it around.

And if you can handle the drowsiness, take some Benadryl or Unisom (same active ingredient).

Zanfel is the product that works best for my family. It's OTC and a little expensive, but it was the only product that relieved the itching when my daughter had poison ivy, and the relief lasts all day. I STRONGLY recommend it!
