Folks, it's time for me to come out against torture. Some would say that my sins mean that I deserve what I'm getting, but as sure as there is a God in heaven, this retribution is too much.
Here I was spending a few idle moments at work reading over the Gather Us In parodies at the Society for a Moratorium on the Music of Marty Haugen and David Haas and now I cannot get the tune of Gather Us In out of my head. For two days now.
Do I need an exorcism? A vacation? A drink? What will make it stop?

You definitely need an exorcism! (Do I sense a marketing opportunity here? "St. Figita's Home Exorcism Kit -- also effective against Earworms"
Alternatively, you could sacrafice a liturgist at a lonely crossroads at midnight.
But can we use this on captured Al Qaeda prisoners?
:)
May I suggest some self-mortification a la chant?
Repeat after me:
Pie Iesu Domine, Dona eis requiem..." ... THUNK!!!
Ooh, Tex, I like that one, though in Darwin's case today the "thunk" will be more like "snort" as he blows his nose. We haven't come in out of the cold yet.
Exorcism should do the trick. Simply repeat.
"The Power of Chant compels you."
"The Power of Chant compels you."
"The Power of Chant compels you."
"The itsy bitsy spider went up the garden spout..."
or
"The wheels on the bus go "round and 'round..."
I personally recommend the "itsy bitsy spider".
The "wheels on the bus" song can get really annoying.
Or you can try "Hair of the Dog."
(Believe it or not that song was on our juke box at the Catholic school I went to.)

At the risk of being labeled a Torture Endorsing Catholic[TM], I have to say that I'd prefer the Gitmo staples of Metallica and Harry Potter.
. . . I suppose this would be a bad time to mention that I've treasured a secret passion for the song ever since I was eight years old . . .
Well, Rose, as long as we're "coming out of the closet" I will admit to liking the song: 'I Will Raise You Up'. And I secretly wish they would sing it every Sunday at Mass.
Big Tex, we always sang the english version of that "I can play dominoes better than you can..." THUNK "No you ca aaant"
Thanks for the tip! I can now use "Gather Us In" as a means to knock either "Take a Walk on the Wild Side" or "Horse With No Name" out of my head! Haugen & Haas have some merit after all (at least compared with Lou Reed).
